I am just after a bit of advice, but I will try and explain properly so please "bear with!" ;)

I normally do ok-ish!! :o techie wise but I'm currently really unwell and my brainfog and memory is shocking....

I thought I had somehow ended up with some odd virus / spyware on both of my PC's 1 x XP with Kaspersky on and 1 x W8.1 with the Windows built in AV on......

How I noticed was yesterday I was on a website and I got this really strange pop up on the screen and then a voice speaking to me  "you have been selected for a survey!" I nearly fell for it - as it was on a charity I work with's website so seemed more feasible....anyway my gut feeling was that it was odd ... so I closed it. The same thing happened on other unrelated websites after so I realised it was defo a virus / spyware.

I have had a few other pop ups and "odd" things going on and my homepage has also been changed to Dregol.com???

***I also had a major panic as I got the same dodgy homepage on my old PC when I switched it on Chrome too - so was also worried I had got a virus on there too**** BUT!! as I am writing this - I think I have realised what has happened lol! :o:o I use chrome signed in on both PC's so it probably is not on both just that when I switched the old one on I still hadn't changed the browser home page back to my original / normal ones - does that make sense? So it's probably only on the one PC??****

Just to be on the safe side!! I am running Anti Virus on Both and will also run Malawarebytes after- but it has stressed me out and made me a bit concerned about it now...

Is there anything else I should run / check just to make sure it is completely off the PC?

Thanks for reading and any advice gratefully received! :)

ps How grim is the new-look forum!?!? :( Switched back! Missed the old fashioned green! :money:

If you have win 7, just system restore to a date last week and hey presto, problem solved.

As OP said clearly he/she had 1 XP and 1 Win 8.1 machine that qualifies for one of the most naff pieces of advice I've read for some time.

even after running MBAM, ADWCleaner and JRT you will probably have to go into your browsers and manually reset your homepage

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Thanks to everyone that read and replied really appreciate that! :T

Is it best / necessary to run ADWCleaner, Rogue Killer and JRT or will one or two of them suffice?

I would run them all Rogue Killer, ADWCleaner and JRT, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/roguekiller/ has links to the other two on the same page
