Packaged Bank Accounts

Hi,
I'm wanting to reclaim the fees I paid for years for an HSBC premier account as being mia sold.
I've wrote to them and they've said that they have no details on my account and have been destroyed. It was over 6 years ago.
I don't have the statements. Is there anything I can do?

Nothing, unless you imply that they are lying.0

No old cheque books lying around?0

How can a cheque book help if all the history had been deleted/destroyed apparently?0

Cheque book will have sort code and account number on.0

Who knows what banking mysteries a sort code, account number, and dates from cheque stubs may reveal...0

Surely you must know the sort code and account number - you need to be a high earner/net worth person to qualify for the HSBC Premier account?
I never quite understand how people got 'mis sold' packaged bank accounts. If you didn't use the benefits you paid for that is hardly the bank's fault.
Its just another example of the endless bailout culture we have in this country - along with PPI - while those of us who are prudent and pay attention to our money have to pay for this all and suffer endless annoying phone calls!0 -

Why do you believe the account was mis-sold? Do you ever use any of the facilities offered with the account?
Do you remember how much it use to cost, because the fee for Premier was only if you never qualified for the account and I know for fact you would have been given an option for a non-fee paying account when you no longer qualified for Premier and would have opted for fee paying?0 -
You could qualify for a free Premier account if you had 50k invested with them or a big salary or mortgage, otherwise they charged £20+ a month.Surely you must know the sort code and account number - you need to be a high earner/net worth person to qualify for the HSBC Premier account?0 -

So did they physically chain people to the counter and force them to sign over that £20 each month?
This is what I really don't get - people decided to open these packaged accounts, paid the cash monthly, did or did not use the benefits and now expect the banks years later to refund the money cos somehow these people were conned and were utterly helpless to stop the payments?
What ever happened to taking personal responsibility - if you didn't need the account why on earth were you paying the £20 a month?
I can just about understand the PPI stuff - but packaged bank accounts?
What next - refunds of lottery tickets because it was suggested you might win millions if you bought them but never did. Plus of course 8% interest on top?:rotfl:0
