Cannot get back to old style layout

I tried the new style layout but did not like it so pressed the "switch back" link.
I am now back on the old colours but the page is narrow down the centre of my screen.
How do I get back to a full width screen?

How narrow?
MSE abandoned full-width layout long time ago. With 100% zoom it takes about 1/2 width of 9:16 window.
