Brought a house, did not move into - Does this count as an address?

Options
Hi All,

I brought a house and officially completed in December 2014- For 4 months the house was empty because I was going through a change in circumstances with my job. Since then, I have agreed with my mortgage lender to rent the place as I was offered a new job out of town and have tenants living at the address already now.

For this reason, I have started a new job and they require me to do some checks on me (not told me explicitly that it will be credit checks but I am assuming) and therefore need my address for the last 7 years.

As I did not move out of my family home - should I just keep that as my address? or do I need to tell them I move to that address from December to February (when in reality I did not).

Any advice and help would be appreciated?

Thanks in advance,
H.

If you were not resident there, it wasn't your address. It was a property your owned, nothing more.

  • Okay - makes sense.

But I have had pay the following in my name:

    - Utilitiy Bills
    - Council Tax

Does this make any difference? I hope not.

    Many thanks again.
  • Please note the utilities company accounts in my name have been closed now and set up in the tenants names..

Give them the address that your bank accounts /credit cards were registered to, and you were on the electoral roll for.
  • Were you on the electoral role at your parents house? This would show a number of years residence at that address

As previously mentioned by BargainBetty, you owned this other property but didn't reside there, so you wouldn't class that as your address. Depending on the checks they do and what sort of access they have, it may show up that you have set up an account for utilities and council tax linked to the new address, but if there were any questions regarding this, it is easy enough to explain that you set them up as landlord accounts until you had tenants.
