I am over 65 and receive yearly government winter fuel payment towards electricity costs. This is currently paid directly to EDF with whom I get my electricity. I dont have gas
I've been recommended to change to first utility or isupply energy and a number of others
I know the grant is only given for certain companies so naturally i'm worried if I switch I'll no longer be entitled to the cold weather grant.
I'm surprised that no one in cheap energy club has brought this up. Surely that should be figured in to their calculations.
Could someone please advise
Thanks

I have never heard of a Winter Fuel Allowance being paid directly to the energy supplier. Mine goes into my bank account every November, and I can spend it wherever I please.

Yes its true the winter fuel allowance is paid to me directly if temperature drops below zero for a certain period of time. A weel I think, I'm not sure
