Does anyone actually buy a new printer every time they run out of ink?

I bought a constant ink system, ink seems to last forever.
To be fair, some of those need you to have a reasonable amount of space beside the printer to set them up, which not all of us have.

I suppose that would be fine if your printer's got WiFi built in and you can move it to another room where there's also space to set up the constant ink system :)

This ugly pair are the compatibles killers, after installing Epson drivers this little rat defaults to check every 2 weeks..

Notice the Firmware setting. Epson use this to upload new software directly into the actual printer to disable compatibles. There is no way to undo it and no matter what you do on the PC you can't fix it.

Any time you install an Epson printer, on every device you need to immediately find these settings and set to 'never'

Then order a small sample of compatibles to test and hope they have up to date data in their chips and are not already in the printers blocked list.

If they work and you have changed the settings above you should be safe to order spare cartridges in cheaper bulk quantity from the same supplier. I have never had problems keeping to this rule and enjoy cartridges for next to nothing.

The compatibles must still work for most people.
Not at my work they don't. I said "false economy" and lo, when the "compatible" black toner cartridge was installed, the toner went on the floor, not the paper.

It may have been compatible with something, but not with the printer the supplier said it was.

At home, I just buy manufacturer's cartridges or toner.
