Overpaid rent

I have been an idiot and forgotten to cancel my standing order to my old landlord, I've now paid an extra months rent more than what I should have.
What are my rights here? I hope that I'm entitled to the full amount returned to me, are 'admin fees' deducted from it for it's return legal? I should hope not :S

Get on the phone and also email him asking for the return of the whole months rent.0

What's the relationship like? Good? A quick phone call and he'll do a bank transfer back to you.
More formal? Write him a polite letter explaining and asking for the money to be returned.
If there are problems, ultimately you could use the small claims court but I doubt it would come to that.
have you actually left? Return might be delayed as a sort of extra 'deposit' but it shouldn't be.0 -
Just send a letter or email, explaining everything and ask nicely for the returen of the overpayment,
That should be that.....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks all, I've sent an email, I've already left and received my deposit. Relationship is ok but have had £30 deducted from my deposit in 'admin fees' - basically have been charged for simply having my deposit returned to me. I know this isn't enforceable but I'm not contesting it as it's too much hassle when they have otherwise been quite reasonable about other things.0
