non fault accident and renewal

If you have a non fault accident where the car is written off, can you expect the cost of insurance on a replacement car to go up because of the non fault accident.

Yes; unless your insurance can claim back all losses and expenses from the other side's insurance company.

Our car was written after it ended upside down in a ditch after skidding on a snowy road. No other car involved so entirely our fault.

We replaced the car with the same car and but younger model.

The new car was covered on the existing policy until the end of the policy year.

Our renewal premium was £30 less than the previous year's premium.

How is this a non fault claim - you have said it was your fault?

The at fault driver has admitted liability to my insurer, so can I assume my future premiums won't go up?

Not necessarily. Having any claim in your history usually means a higher premium.

Do dummy quotes with and without this claim in your history to see what difference it makes to your premiums.

I was "lucky" to be hit by someone who was insured with the same company as me , the insurer closed my claim and put everything through hers .My renewal did go up slightly but only by what I would have expected anyway.
