OP,
You may want to post in the specialist Pepipoo forums:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=5
for more advice, especially if you are thinking of contesting.
Hope this helps

Unfortunately, what seems obvious incompetance, casting doubt on their ability to read a few numbers correctly to you, will simply be put down as a slight administrative error. Clearly you know it is you and that you were driving at the time & place, so you are not in anyway disadvantaged by the error, and it will be put right for when it goes to court.
The idea of a Perry Mason defence where you wait until the day then stand up in court declaring that "I am not the John william accused of speeding, but John William Smith" and the case is dismissed forthwith is a fantasy I'm afraid.
There is no obvious incompetence. The authorities are not "reading a few number", they are relying on the nomination provided by the OP's partner.
Apart from that, I agree 100%0 -
I did put "seems ....... to you"
as in the inability to copy down a name correctly might suggest that they can't copy down the speed correctly either

If the camera is local to the op, they could always go out and measure the road markings to make sure that they comply with guidelines.
There was a case a while back where a chap got away with a speeding ticket as the lines on the road used to calculate the speed were wrongly-spaced.Never Knowingly Understood.

Someone still cares ... *weeps silently*Fewer dead nuns, please...
OP, if you take it to court, expect a) to be found guilty, as explained by others above, b) to have your fine doubled for daring to contest the charge, and c) to have court costs added on top.
I managed to turn a FPN of £60 into £180 with this simple trick.
Just go with it and be more careful next time.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
You can take the matter to court if you like but you'd be a fool to do so. The court will convict you as it's only a minor technicality. Not to mention the fact you've already replied to the NIP so you'd struggle to argue you didn't realise it referred to you! What will your verse be?

Hardly worth replying really. Not like we'll see the OP again, since he didn't get the resounding support for trying to avoid paying his fine he was expecting.0

Not quite 12 hours since the original post. Give the guy a chance

I'm a cyber saint and have never ever exceeded the speed limit. I drive at a consistent 29mph in a 30mph limit, 39mph in a 40mph zone and 49mph in a 50mph limit, 59mph in a 60mph limit and 69mph in a 70mph zone.
