Youview

Options
I'm looking to upgrade my old humax, which I have to keep formating the HDD. I've been looking at youview but which one humax or bt. I know they are both the same box but does the bt do anything different?
Any general reviews would be greatful.

    Hi,

I changed my Humax to BT and I am very pleased with the Youview box.

(just deleted a load of rubbish); assuming you're not a BT TV subscriber there's no difference in functionality.
What I will say is avoid the small BT Youview box. The tuners aren't as good as the ones in the "full sized" boxes.

  • I'm not a bt customer, it's that the price varies between the humax and bt.

I have the small Youview box and prefer it's nice neat shape. I have not found any issues with the tuner.

I may have a duff unit; not sure if this applies to the full-sized units too but power usage is a pain with the small one. You have 2 modes. Either
    - ECO mode is on and the disk powers down when not in use; disadvantage is it takes 2-3 mins to power up (dont worry this doesn't lose recordings!) OR
    - ECO mode off and the disk is on 24/7

I have the first one and lasted a year before I had to have BT come out and swap it for a new one.
Wasnt a hassle, although i did lose all the recordings from the first one.

I'd get the bigger one (my reasons above). Wherever/if you get a T2000 get a 2 year warranty at
