If you google "uk version firefox", you will find the right version.
  • Hi,

if you go into Tools > Add-ons > Get Add-ons and search dictionary, second one down (in my case), you'll get a British English Dictionary Add-on.

And to select the UK dictionary, right-click in a text box on a web page, click "Languages" and then "English (United Kingdom)".

For some reason, Firefox keeps resetting itself to "English (Canada)" on my PC... :-/

If you go into the Mozilla Firefox folder (in Program Files or Program Files (x86)) and find the dictionaries folder, you can delete any dictionaries that you don't need.

The UK dictionary is an addon.

Unfortunately even the UK dictionary contains Americanisms, butchered versions of proper English words.

As for making it stick, type in the address bar "about:config" and search "dictionary", now make sure the entry "spellchecker.dictionary" is set to "en-GB".

When I click on the 'three bars' (top right) and select 'add ons' then in the lost on the left is 'dictionaries'

I have the 'English British Dictionary' which amusingly underlines Firefox! :rotfl:

I recommend the 64 bit version of Firefox, even though it's currently in beta. If you want to install it make sure you uninstall the 32 bit version first.

    British version here:

However a large number of add-ons don't work with 64 bit

How to do as mine only says with no way to change:

    services.sync.prefs.sync.spellchecker.dictionary;true
