O/S Daily Wednesday 29th April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, mixture of sun and light cloud, and windy – air still feels cold too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can ready for school.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta, HM mincemeat and apple strudel for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight we’re having HM med roasted veg tart, with jacket potatoes and salad, I’ll do the menfolk some chicken dippers to go with theirs.

Work yesterday was steady but not horrific, I’m only working until lunchtime today and then have a nail appointment, when I get home I’ll crack on with my normal chores.

I’ll get DH’s emails done tonight also.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Wet and grey here, washing will stay inside. DW emptied and I cleaned the outside of all the kitchen cupboards yesterday.

Had Jamaican Bean Stew for tea which was very tasty but I have had a sore tummy all night (I think the beans gave me wind!) so may give that a miss for my lunch and have salad.

My car goes in to be looked at and wont be back till tomorrow so will get the train home later. We have a pedometer challenge at work, 5 in a team to see how far we can walk for the next 6 weeks, not looking for prizes but being part of a team will encourage me to walk more.

Had my interview yesterday but fluffed it up as I knew I would, why do I lose the power of speech in these situations? Never mind, that's just how I am I suppose.

Enjoy your day. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

Looks grey outside again but it can't be as bad as yesterday.

Today I need to knuckle down and do a couple of pieces of written work ...planning. After all these years I still hate planning.

There's scaffolding going back up in the garden  and at the front too. We need to have the Freesat and analogue aerials moved higher up on the barn wall so that the scaffolding can go up. Just a pain but if it stops the rain getting through then it needs done.

Also got the lovely plumber-!!!-do everything man coming round to discuss installing an outside water supply to the back garden. The walls are so thick it may be difficult.

Got the food organised for the rest of this week. We're off to London on Friday and back on Tuesday (well back in Glasgow on Sunday).

I am thinking about Elona and her DH a lot.

Hope Wednesdsy is fine for everyone.

Gers - Sorry I forgot to say, I tried to clean the glass with newspaper and ash and also vinegar but it didn't work so I got a stanley knife blade and scraped it off. My friends had given me a compressed sawdust log that I put on without enough air going through, the log must have been slightly damp as it as tar and not soot on the glass.

Lesson learned and after reading the instruction manual I think I know what I'm doing now!!

    Good morning everyone

It's a wet and windy North Devon this morning, the girls have gone off to school wearing coats for a change so it must be bad :).

I had a very mixed day yesterday, my support worker came and we did go off to Westward Ho! for a walk round and then a cup of tea in a local pub. I really enjoyed it and felt relaxed and happy to be out in the sunshine. Unfortunately when I came home, my friend was waiting for me and she was so high with her bipolar it's made me feel stressed and worried. I won't go into details but I am going to be avoiding the phone and even going out over the weekend so I don't get drawn into her crazy plans.

I have another friend coming round in a minute once she has dropped her daughter off at school so I will go and have a quick tidy up before she comes, not that she will judge me or anything, she is one of the loveliest people you could meet. We will have a good old chat and put the world to rights I expect.

I'm making some mash to go with tea tonight so I will peel the potatoes this morning whilst I have the energy and then I just have to assemble a meal later on. I have been very tired lately and have slept a lot but I'm happy to go with the flow as it were. I obviously need sleep and I have nothing to do mostly in the day so it doesn't really matter too much.

Well, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to. Elona, I hope your DH manages to get some rest, we are all thinking about you xx

Good Morning everyone, oh my goodness it's really cold here today and the rain is lashing down on the windows too. He Who Knows and that hound have dressed up in waterproofs and are out for walkies while I'm doing the houise and getting lots of 'rolly' towels down for when the boy gets back. Have to be in today as we're awaiting a sign for delivery, He Who Knows got a new phone and contract from T*sco and this is the second time in a month that it has gone very wrong and had to be sent back, really NOT GOOD!

CAMELOT we get some sooty deposits on the woodburner glass and it's usually when the burn has not been hot enough. The next good hot fire sees it clear itself so we try to keep the stove running at the top third of the reccommended temperature range, up to 400deg and that stops it happening. We've one of those little round stove thermometers which sticks on and is very useful.

Stay warm everyone, Brrrrr, Lyn xxx.

    Good Morning All,

I do hope that everyone is well and if not then you have my very best wishes.

I do not know what the weather is going to be like today so the laundry will be dried indoors today.

Tuesday is my patchwork club morning so i am out by 8.15 in the morning and get home again about 1.30. I love going as it's good to be with like minded people but it's so tiring for me.

Got my usual Wednesday long list of chores today, but i am planning on a short time in front of the tv first.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Regards

    Good Morning Folks,

It's wet here too now and rather chilly. How lucky were we to get the dogs out this morning when it was dry but windy. Back home by half six just as the raindrops were starting to fall.

Just as well I have a day off today as feeling the effects of a mammoth baking session yesterday evening for charity bake sale today. I'm thinking of a HM curry for tea as I have quite a few rice sachets to use and it might be a better fit than salad with this gloomy weather. Also thinking I may have to ring the vet about our black Labrador who has been off colour for a couple of days, nothing specific but just not her usual mad self.

Dumpling I'm glad you enjoyed your trip out, sounds lovely, but sorry your friend has stressed you out. Definitely a good idea to ignore the phone for a few days.

Camelot most of us have brain freeze in interviews and it probably went better than you think. Fingers crossed.

Thinking of Elona and family x
