I want to claim for wiplash....

Hello everyone!
Please could someone give me some advice.....
I had a car go up the back of me on 1/8 (it was actually my friend from work)
She has accepted it was her fault and my beloved mini
(old type) I hope is being fixed! (I have an agreed value on it of £4000 with my insurance company) anyway I rang my insurance company the next morning and they sorted out a hire car for me,but had trouble find me a garage to take a look at my car 2 days later they told me I had to find one myself - This envolved taking it there myself:mad: . I did this on 4/8 I left the car there. I got an assesment from them (£1200 worth of damage) that was faxed to my insurers on 6/8 today I rang them as I had not heard from them neither had the garage. I have called them today and they say they have received the fax and it is being 'done' now. just to top things off the person who went up the back of me's insurance Churchill rang and they had a garage all ready to pick the car up (very efficient) but I said I was going through my insurers (this was before I realised how usless mine were)
So it is all being sorted now i hope.... back to the main issue:p the day after the accident my neck was hurting so I made an appointment with the doctor he gave me pain killers and said I had wiplash and to see my chiropractor - I made an appointment for the next day 3/8. She did some treament and I have to go back for some more this week.
What I want to know is it really worth claiming for this wiplash:o ? Could I get the Chiropractor fee back? I have just started a DMP so I am really trying to save money at the moment to clear off my debt and the money would come in handy even just to pay for the chiropractor fees. Or is it really not worth the hassle as I am at work and only taken time off for doctor and chrioprator?
Also anyone got any experience with the car value? my mini is a 1993 Rover Sprite but modified (insurers know) I got an agreed value of £4000 and the damge costs are £1200 I know with book value it could be written of but I should be ok shoudnt I? I love my mini very much
(member of club) and would hate to see it on a scrap heap:eek:
any advise?

It really is up to you, i had a whiplash claim and i didn't get my fee's back and it took 5 years to pay out.
Also you say it was your friend who went into the back of you - do you really want to sue them?Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
Thanks for getting back to me
I thought if I claim for wiplash its all through the insurance? Are you saying she would have to pay out? - to me?0 -
Usually a car is declared a total loss if the cost of repair exceeds 60% of the value of the vehicle, so if the figures you give are correct it shouldn't end up on the scrapheap.
Yes, absolutely do claim for injuries, there's no reason not to. Keep receipts for all your expenses. Do you have legal expenses cover included in your car policy?
Edited to add - yclaim for personal injury it will be covered by your friend's insurer, so don't think if it as sueing your friend.0 -

No she won't have to pay out.
But i know someone who claimed from a friend and it put her friends car insurance up!Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
as your friend has amitted liability then everything should go smoothly. However, it sounds like it hasn't started tat way. definatly claim for whiplash, keep up to date with your doctors visits as sometimes they ask permission to access medical files and also keep all your rceipts for chiroprctor. you should be reimburrsed for this afterall it wasn't your fault.
your friend will not have to pay out of her own pocket, its all done through insurance
good luck keeping your mini!!0 -

I'm guessing that having a claim's going to put the other persons insurance up anyway, so I wouldn't worry about claiming.
So really, it's your choice whether you claim or not. If you really think that you needed the treatments you had and think that it's going to be worth dragging out the claim, I'd go for it, if not - just write it off as "one of those things" I guess.0 -

I checked this morning and they said I am covered on my policy:T0 -

Exactly. The friend's insurance will increase anyway due to the damage to your vehicle.
As far as her insurance is concerned the difference between the increased premium due to a fault claim of £1200 and the increased premium due to the same fault claim but with a few hundred pounds personal injury on top will be minimal.0
