Is this Capitalone site legit?

https://www.capitalone.co.uk/creditcards/secure/dd-accept-form.jsf

It was over-friendly, like I had won a competition, telling me I was accepted for the 33% credit card, and requests my direct dehit details.....

Your link doesn't work, but http://www.capitalone.co.uk is a legit site.

If it was hostile and didn't ask for DD details, would it inspire more confidence?

33% I am not surprised they want to distract you so that you did not notice that 33% is a terrible rate.

Mine is not that good at 17%, But i dont plan on spending less than i can afford to pay back in one go. So the interest rate is not much of an issue.
