Change Virgin Flight Date

I've want to change a single return flight within a group booking. The travel agent is saying that it isn't possible as we had a discount applied to the booking. I want to come home a day early due to work commitments. Please help guys, I'm happy to pay an admin fee but they are saying I have to either book another flight or nothing. It basically means I won't be able to go if I can't change the flight so I'll lose £1,100. The flight is with Virgin Atlantic. Many thanks in advance for all your help.

Oh Dear, what a nightmare, hopefully someone with better knowledge can help you, but I'm guessing the TA's advice is correct. YIKES!!!! Also depends on the flight of ticket you bought?

It is likely the special rate they have allows no changes.
As you booked through an agent you need to deal with them (if you contact Virgin they will just refer you back to the agent)
It is unlikely that travel insurance would cover the new ticket so your options will be to look for a new one-way ticket back or forfeit the ticket and try and claim the £70 taxes back (minus any admin fee the agent may charge)
If it was a published Virgin fare (rather than a discounted fare) you may have been able to change the return for £100/£150 change fee + any fare difference
If you had your holidays already booked from work, have they now told you to cancel? is there no way you can negotiate with your employer?

Ditto above, plus it could also have been a 'group' fare, giving your group a discount but not the flexibility you desire and of course you having to remain part of the group.

Are you flying on a route where perhaps you can pick up a cheap return with a low cost or charter operator? Might be an option from Orlando, Washington, Los Angeles or New York, with Norwegian, WOW or a charter ex SFB in Orlando.

If the holiday from work was booked and now they are asking you to change your plans, you might invite your employer to pay for the additional one-way ticket. If your input is that crucial, they should be willing to pay-- in Business Class!
