Don't trust Homeserve "No fix no fee" promise

I went through Homserve brand "plumbernow" to fix a bathroom leak. The confirmation email came from Homeserve with a reference number.
So the engineer came and did not fix anything but gave general advice and left. My credit card statement came and Homeserve had charged me £99. So I phone them up and they say we don't know anything about this job number. Utter rubbish. I have used Homeserve before through plumbernow and know that when you phone them it's one database and they have access to all info.
They promised a call back from someone who "knows" and no-one has bothered to call back.
I'll be doing a chargeback via my credit card but a WARNING for future folks.

There is no investigation. I left my number and no-one called back.
I spoke to one of their guys on 29th April who gave me a fake name and reference number. He promised me I would get a refund.
I phoned up today as my credit card statement has come and no refund. Apparently I never called anyone from homeserve to do a job and they can't find me on their computers they don't know anyone who works their by that name and they don't recognise my fake reference number. They don't recognise the reference number from the email and want to know why I'm calling the number on the email they sent to me confirming the appointment!!!0 -
The fault is on my part. I used homeserve twice within a month and mistakenly thought the first transaction was the second one that had not been refunded.
As it happens the homeserve didn't take the money for the second transaction. I was looking for a "payment of £99 AND refund of £99".
I apologise unreservedly. There was no fault on the part of homeserve.0 -
