Do I need Joiner or Builder???

I have a single storey kitchen with an angled slate roof - the wooden beam that goes right across from on e end of the ceiling to the other has rotted at one end (water penetration years ago), so I need a new block of wood bolted onto the beam and into the wall, probably about a foot - something like this
