Inherited penny shares

Hi,

My father passed away a couple of years ago and recently my mum discovered a folder containing share certificates for shares bought in 2003-2006 in various companies.

As far as she remembers, she's not received any communication from anybody in the last 2 years about these.

After some digging on my part it turns out Equinix are the holders of the shares in my fathers name and I have arranged for them to send the appropriate Small Estate forms to my mum to have them transferred into her name.

One of the shares in particular (LON: AHT) was bought in 2003 at a price of 10 pence and now worth 1150 pence (how did he know & why didn't he share the name with me then!!!) and checking the company website they have paid dividends regularly.

Can anyone advise what would have happened to these dividends? All I have in terms of documents are the share certificates themselves.

Thanks

Stuart

They wont answer any questions until the small estates handover is completed and ownership is passed to my mum.....

The registrar, Equiniti in this case, will have attempted to pay dividends to your late father. This may have been by BACS payment to his bank account, or by cheque to his last known address. Perhaps his bank account was closed and the payment returned to Equiniti, or the cheques were returned to sender with the same effect.

Your late father's estate is entitled to receive these dividends, and will receive them when you have completed Equiniti's deceased shareholder procedure.

Which other shares have you found? - You will need to find the registrar for each of the shares.
