I've read lots of articles about HW and how poor of an area it is with lots of gangs of kids running around in postcode wars? Is that really an accurate representation?

Yes and the local football team, Wycombe Wanderers, has a massive "firm". We have a reputation worse than Leeds and Millwall.

(if you cannot tell, that was all sarcasm)

Thought as much. When I've been in the area (not too many times) it has seemed fine to me.

Oh dear me; of course there are problem areas and, no doubt, problem people (one of my ex-gcse students asked if he could give his talk to the class about how to break in to a car - invaluable if you have an old motor and you've dropped your keys? :rotfl:) - but from the earlier posts above you can see round the Amersham Hill area or down towards the station that there are lots of really acceptable places to buy. I lived out of town in Little Missenden for a while, renting, then moved further out on the other side towards the Chilterns (border Bucks/Oxfordshire), too far for you, but overall I thought HW a great area, providing you choose carefully. But isn't that true of everywhere?

So fair to the say that that to the right of Amersham Hill (when looking at google maps) is the best area to look at?

Both sides are good, depending on the particular road you're looking at. Trying very hard here to not give away where I'm currently living and considering buying ;)

I'd have a drive/walk around and get a feel for the areas you're considering.

An estate agent friend of mine says within 1/4 mile of the station is a good bet for resale, and anywhere near the RGS is of course fab (though this area is still in catchment for Wycombe High and even Borlase, as far as I'm aware).

Thanks. If we end up in Windsor I may just buy an investment property near the station i.e. a 1 or 2 bed flat for commuters. Thanks for all your help everyone.
