Rayday, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I am desparate to become a stay-at-home-mum :( I'm out of the house 12 hours a day as I work right over the other side of London, 3 hours wasted travelling to a place I don't even wanna be at!!

I'm looking into ways of staying at home. I will save on the childminders money (I got 3 kids at home, 2 of them in childcare) and really want to keep the car, plus got a couple of small debts left. I've been mystery shopping like crazy, thinking about becoming a Usbourne book seller plus just started working for AQA. There's gotta be a way out of this

Our biggest problem is childcare its ok paying for one but three is suicidal thats why I work in the evenings but then it feels like me and hubby just pass in the hall.

I am a terrible MSE because at the moment I am putting family first I would like to work full time at home so am looking into bingo CM but I can't do that while working part time becuase the jobs I have seen come up are full time and I have to say can't work Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Maybe you could look into something like that I know sounds a bit daft but could cover the difference in travel, childminding and keep you busy enough you have to stay in and have no spend days lol!

I think I've just got to swallow the drop in money as I think it's better all round if I'm at home at the moment, tonight for example when I've finished here, I'll run out of the station to Tesco, chuck anything in the basket cos I'm in a rush, zoom home and get to spend 10 minutes with the kids before they go to bed, rush to get dinner cooked and sort stuff out for tomorrow, then it's practically bed time!! This is doing no good for self esteem, plus I miss my kids terribly :( I get to hear all the great stuff they've been doing from the CM and she get the benefit of seeing it all.

Maybe I could try evening work, what do you do?

I am a special needs youth worker vacancies for jobs like these come up on local council websites, its OK pay but a hell of a lot of worries. I would prefer something I could do come home and leave - maybe I want the moon on the stick!

No I think you're right, I don't think I could cope with that - as much as I'd like to think I could! Well done you though :)

Well councils do other kinds of youth work, mainstream ones, its practise to get one over our little ones!

Sorry I missed you CS. I will drop in next week. Do keep a shortbread for me.

Jo - I did take a big drop in salary 18 months ago and wondered how on earth we would manage. We did and if fact are much happier and I think we live and eat better than we ever did. I don't feel we are missing out omn anything ... just the reverse.

Oh my, good luck cos you are gonna need it

My eldest DD is 15 and I will never forget her first week at secondary school. Within the first 5 days of her starting, she looked different, spoke different, dressed different, it was as if she'd grown up by 2 years lol!! Apparently this is very common!

Oh....it gets worse btw, my dd is on her last year doing her GCSEs but has just found herself a boyfriend

Thanks for the message Pam, I think, in fact I know you are right - just gotta do it now!!

Well I would love to thank you but erm can't seem to be able to find the gratitude for news like that lol!

My friend rang the other day to say her 11 year old was pining for a boy and they were boyfriend girlfriend - scared the pants off me!

Pam is right I like what Pam says I just need my backdated payrise from the last 3 years paid to me in September and we are away! Be silly not to wait for that backpayment - I think!
