If not, can't you take cash off the card and pay it in that way?

I'm not good with credit cards, I've never had one, so I'm not really sure what you can and can't do with them!
    Current debt - £16,300 :(
    Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek:

  • it wouldn't be a balance transfer then it would be a cash advance and they are quite expensive. just re-read martins bt article and i think I have figured it out. My mum already has a card with a £4k limit - she said she would apply for the Natwest 13 months 0% card and then on the new card you make a bt to the other card (even though it has no debt on it) which puts the other card in credit - then you pay off the loan with that credit card (he mentions the egg money card but I dont think mum will be too happy applying for 2 cards!)

  • hi there! i have applied for a few credit cards and been knocked back on every single one - so have given up now! I figured i'd "do the shuffle"! As best as I could anyway with limited credit available.

thanks for that site that will be a big help!!! - class number 2 Thursday night - spinning - these usually go down well from where I used to teach when i was a gym instructor (2nd job again! I seem to have a thing for 2nd jobs!) so hopefully i should build up a good reputation!

Don't apply for one after the other after the other after the other...........

Apparently this can have a bad effect on your credit scoring.

For dealing with your messy housemate, how about getting one of those large plastic boxes or garden trugs (or even just a large stout cardboard box) to store in the kitchen. Then every time your messy mate leaves stuff lying around everywhere, just dump it all up and put it in the box. But sit down with him/her first and say that the low standards of houskeeping are getting you down and if things don't improve, this is how you are going to deal with it.
  • hey guys - sorry for the quietness! Been mega busy with my new job.

On the money saving front I have been accepted for a Barclaycard with 0% balance transfers - dont know my credit limit yet but that will certainly make a difference.

Got a few more classes - don't have that wage yet but hopefully I can get some debts wiped out!

Does anyone have ideas for tasty work lunches that can be microwaved at work? I am really really fussy with food and I dont really like sandwiches so if anybody could help I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks guys!

    Hi iwanttobreakfree

Try posting the lunch question on the Moneysaving Old Style board - I'm sure I've seen threads devoted to the subject there.

    hi there

just a couple of suggestions to help you on your quest.

have you tried ringing your c/card companies to reduce your interest rates, telling them that you are going to close the account/pay it off etc - it has worked well for others on here.

also, write and hand a letter to your gym, enclosing the terms/price/date that they quoted you for your gym membership. then change your direct debit to £0 until they no longer owe you money!
  • hello guys

well got a barclaycard with 0% so transferring one balance to it and paying the other off with my pension refund so that is a bit of moneysaving this month! sorry my post isn't more fun and upbeat but I'm having a really low day today - dying to spend money on something totally lavish and not needed but I've managed not to thankfully.
