OK, then progressive payments, with delivery of completed sections to you when you make each payment. Or see if you can find an indemnity policy to cover you for your advance payments should the company go bust. Or put the money in escrow until completion.

While the risk of it happening may be small the consequences if it does happen are large.
    yeah I know!!!
progressive payments with various deliveries won't work either, as each delivery would cost approx £800. As for the escrow option, I looked into that before, but again, they will need the money to purchase materials so with some intermediary holding onto the ££ until delivery, this won't work either.

If S75 won't work with my CC, then will see about some indemnity policy. More digging to do on that now

    Thanks!

The 'cash' is going straight into their account from my CC account though.

Okay, so they are not paying any charges in this case, but I am the one being slogged instead at 5%, so surely part of that charge is going to S75?
Don't look for a black cat in a dark room, especially if it is not there...

S75 if applied to CC is a formality that doesn't make any sense. So, stop trying to make any sense of it and start reading the facts instead.

Do a credit check on the company if you're worried that they will go bust.

It's rare to find any companies that will take £30k on a credit card, the fees are huge on that and unlike a car dealer who can recover the assets on a charge back tthe building trade cannot viably do this.

Perhaps to alleviate concerns you could offer to purchase the hardware yourself and get it delivered to your site. The issue is expect a lot of "sorry, that's not our responsibility" shrugs if the building merchant sends the wrong stuff.

Disposal of excess waste is an issue too, the builders will take away the excess stuff free and use in on their next projects. But if you purchase these yourselves getting builders to take everything away might be an issue.
