I download their left-handed calendar every year and it did take some getting used to - but now I find glancing at it easy and quick to read the dates! I still use ordinary calendars at work so don't even have a problem swapping between the two now! How many right-handers could say the same?!

I also love having their left-handed knives (amazing the difference they make) and a left-handed corkscrew! Wow, was instantly easier to use and the result? Wine bottles now consumed much quicker :rotfl:

Perhaps I've just adapted too well to a right-handed world  . I hold the wine bottle steady in my left hand and use my right for the corkscrew. Though I think my corkscrew could probably be used with either hand  . Hmm, I was going to stay off the booze this week but in the interests of science.........

    :D
  • 1 in 10 people are supposedly left handed.. the crock about us (yes, i'm a leftie!) being dumber than the rest is totally bogus-

1 of the first 4 people that went to the moon was left handed, and i am sure righties would suffer in a leftie world, more than lefties would in a rightie world- we have learnt to adapt!

Thanks, just joined. I already use left-handed cheque books and am now looking forward to getting other things, especially scissors.

Left handedness was a sign of evil and the devil , hence why maybe people in their 60+ might remember being forced to write right handed in schools. Not sure the origins of it but well I guess its one of those things that happened to you if you was in the minority and people didn't know any better.

    People didn't know any better?
I hate that saying, in the past this country had slaves!!!
Did they not know any better?
Perverts pedophiles etc do they know no better?
    It's called being inhumane!!!!!
I went for weeks without dinner when I was 5 because I was bullied by a dinner lady who took my dinner away from me for using my knife and fork the wrong way around... did she not know any better?
(I'm only 21 now this kind of thing still happens!!!)
I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

This is really interesting (the Latin stuff).

I can't imagine how horrible it must be bullied/forced into things and people have a lot to answer to.

I'm right handed, but really right handed/sided (I think I'm a bit lop sided!) -I know lots of right handed people can write to a certain extent if they try really hard with their left hand but I find it impossible to the point of making me want to scream with frustration - my brain just can not get through to my hand. If someone forced me to do something the other way round it would drive me mad.

I find it really awful that some people think it is acceptable or ok to inflict this on left handers or expect them to adapt! Adapt to what? - something someone else says is better/normal/expected when it isn't right for them?

These posts have made me do a bit of thinking about something not many of us probably bother enough about! A friend said to me the other day that he's left sided, not left handed and always noticies when playing football etc. becausehe uses his left foot. The discussion started because he plays the mouth organ in a pub and brought it up with regard to playing instruments which is something lots of people don't think about!

I use left-handed cheque books too - they're so much easier! You can just ask your bank for one and they send it through the post :)xXx
