Talk to your solicitor about this before you start agreeing cash deals. This could affect the mortgage (if relevant), and could be perceived as dodgy. It is also unenforceable.0

Thanks for all your advice folks. Fortunately, the survey on the property that we're buying has now come back saying there's no work needs to be done there, so we have a little money to play with.
This has already gone on long enough and is the only thing holding up the sale, so I've decided to offer her a carrot rather than sit around and wait for her to mention it.
I've now contacted the buyer and offered to pay (via the estate agent or solicitor, so it'll all be legal) half the costs, as long as we've moved out before the work starts. We'll see what she says to that!0
