    I assume when you refer to the P60 you mean the one for earnings in 2013-14, as 944L was the standard tax code for that year. For 2014-15 your tax code was probably 1000L (and on your payslips from last year), and you'll see that on the P60 that you should get in the next month or so, and this year it will be 1060L.

    As CLAPTON and zygurat say, contact HMRC to split the code across the two jobs, once that's done you should get overpaid tax back in the next pay from the employer that has deducted it.

    I think what we are suggesting means that there will be two P60s this year, one from each employer with tax codes 500L and 560L.
    The only thing that is constant is change.

  • So does that mean when i allocate 5k allowance to my new job i will get the tax that i have been charged back with next months pay and wont pay tax on that job until i exceed 5k earnings?

    Not quite, you will be allowed one twelfth of the 5k allowance each month untaxed.
