I've got a desktop hooked up to the internet, but wanted to use my laptop wirelessly as well.
I've got a BT ADSL Modem so what do I need to get to get access? My ISP is Tiscali if that makes any difference

buy a wireless card/adapter for your desktop, and network your laptop and desktop together, there is the wireless network wizard in xp0

if the pc has a network card, and the laptop is wireless, you just need an adsl wireless router, e.g. dg834gEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

If I can do it ..... anyone can! Bought a Netgear router from Ebay (brand new) set that up one night ..... linked my laptop to it the next night. Made it more secure the following (changed Sidd, and did a password key).
Eeasy Peeasy, there is a great post here about doing it... by albertross!0 -
You dont need a router, since its only 1 laptop and 1 desktop, get a wireless adapter for the desktop (use modem as usal) and network the 2
(its much cheaper too) (but the PC would have to be on and connected to the net for the laptop to get internet acess)0 -
I am planning on getting an Xbox 360 soon and using it for that too2p off is still 2p off!0

If you have more than 2 or more devices that want to use the net at the same time (ie Laptop, XBox, PC) Then, yes, get a router
I recommend belkin routers, as they come with lifetime warrany0
