Fees owed to claim company

Options
hi,
I got a company called 'Easy Claim" to inverstigate bank charges to my Natwest account that had been applied after they phoned me up on a whim. I thought I had nothing to loose as they said they'd get monies owed that the bank had been charging me every month for having a Natwest gold card account going back years.
Natwest has awarded me £2,153.26 and a further £991.80 in interest.
So total award is just over £3000.
Easy claim now say they want 30% plus VAT so they want £1116.72
I think this is taking the mickey and I'm quite happy to pay them 30% on the amount awarded but they said it's the total amount including the interest.
I asked for a copy of the signed agreement and they do say it's over the full amount awarded.
What should I do?
Pay them the exorbitant amount they want or risk them taking me to court?
I certainly don't want any CCJ'S but not happy having to pay that amount

To be blunt, pay them or they will take you to court.

If you didn't want to pay that amount you shouldn't have signed a contract agreeing to do so. The time to query the fees would have been before you signed it.

Appreciate this isn't what you want to hear but there's not really a lot more to be said.

If you dont like their fees then why did you employ them?

It is normal for the fee to be applied to the full award.

Pay them the money you agreed to pay them or expect to be taken to court for non-payment. Claims companies do tend to be quite aggressive when it comes to getting their money. However, to be fair, in this case, they would be well within their rights.

In the same way as when you employ a builder or a plumber; Easy Claims carried out the work you agreed for them to do on your behalf and now you must pay them for that work. If you went to a restaurant, ordered and ate a meal and then told the waiter when he brought the bill "Where's your signed agreement? I think you're taking the mickey.", what do you think the restaurant manager would say?

I'm sorry, OP. I don't think you'll be able to avoid this one. :(
    Best wishes.

It is a bit like the old story of the mechanic and the car that didn't work. The driver asked him to repair it, so he hit it with a hammer and it started.

The mechanic said "that'll be £100 please".

"What?" said the driver, "all you did was hit it with a hammer".

"Yes" said the mechanic. "It was 50p to hit it - but it was £99.50 for knowing where to hit it".

The difference is that if you come here there are plenty of us who will tell you where to hit it. We will also tell you if we think you are aiming at the wrong part or if there seems to be nothing wrong.

A CMC will randomly wallop your car in the knowledge that they might, just might, actually land the hammer on a spot that actually makes a difference - so they can charge you the £100.
