Hi I've been moving stuffs into new flat and heating hasn't been on and lights on about 6 times. I'll be properly living there in a week.
I've taken gas and leccy readings. I believe owner was with Scottish Power.
So do I find thr cheapest deal on here or do I rung sp to give them my readings and cancel the arrangement?

It's a 1 bed single owner flat so no idea the monthly bill I should expect as best value.

I've taken photos too.

Any pointers would be great thanks

Hi, you are in a deemed contract with SP, you cannot switch if you don't have a supplier to switch from.

Ring SP and register with them on a standard tariff or a tariff that has no exit fees and give them your opening meter readings. You can then start a switch to a supplier of your choice that will take between 3-5 weeks.

    Hi catoutthebag

You don't have a contract with SP, however you do need to contact them to make sure they know you have moved in. They will need the meter reads you have taken and the date you took responsibility. You are under no obligation to take a contract with them, you are free to choose any supplier you wish.

Wrong....they are in a deemed contract with SP but are free to move once they have accepted responsibility for the supply from the day they move in until the date of any switch.

So you would prefer new occupiers to move into premises with no gas or electric supply and have to wait for the supplier(s) to come round, at a cost, to reconnect and uncap the supply when a contract is entered into. That is how it would work without the deemed contact system , which works much smoother and cheaper than the old way
