We are looking to buy a new lap top, the main use will be for
T.V and movie streaming, rather than for storage needs
Please can anyone recommend what we should be looking for, obviously understand processing speed but any personal recommendations?
around 300/400 mark
thanks

Tv and movie streaming - as in watching on the main TV or watching tele on the device?
For the above an atom will do just as good a job as an i7 (id argue even better). Laptops imo awkward to watch tv on, heavy on your lap, overheat if on bed/duver and screen too small if setup away on a table.
I'd be considering a tablet, 11-12" like asus t200 hybrid tablet/laptop. Can happily rest on bed or lap, fanless and battery life very few laptops can match.
I use my linx 8 for watching films on etc, bargain for £49. Does it have to be a lapt/windows. Plenty of android tabs will do the job too.0 -

It would appear that all the medion laptops have windows 8.1 (OEM version) What does this mean? Is it a genuine MS versionBefore doing something... do nothing0

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.
From Webopedia:
OEM (pronounced as separate letters) is short for original equipment manufacturer, which is a misleading term for a company that has a special relationship with computer producers. OEMs are manufacturers who resell another company's product under their own name and branding.
Basically speaking, yes, it's a legitimate version of Windows 8.1.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
+1 for the tablet idea. See if you can borrow a friends to try it out.0

What about this? Effectively £75 if you have an old machine to trade in.

PC World currently have this 2 in 1 HP Pavilion x360 for £329.99.
Going on what jaydee says it has an 11.6" (touch) screen, Windows 8.1 (so you should get a free upgrade to Windows 10) etc:

My friend has an Acer laptop with the same Intel Celeron processor and it performs a lot faster than the previous generations of the same chip. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
thAnks everyone for your helpful replies.
We need the laptop to stream to TV such programmes as FilmOn etc when not in the UK.
Already have an ipad and watch Tv on this frequently.
Current lap top we use is quite old and "stutters" quite a bit, so need one with faster processing speed, just wasnt sure which make of proecessor to look out for.
thanks0
