Hi all after some advice I am 24 and applied for 2 course one at uni and one at college. The one at college leads onto the one at uni, but I think the college course would be too easy for me so applied direct to uni. I got into the college course with no problem. The uni course I have been put into clearing. So have to wait to the 16 to try get on the uni course.
If I get onto the uni course it will last 4 year with year in industry. If I don't then I will have to take the college route what will take 5 years meaning I will get my Degree when I am 29/30.I so want to do this as its computer what I am really into and enjoy doing.
The Problem I have is I don't know if it worth doing. If I have to take the college route it gonna cost me about £11,000 in fees. Then I don't know when I am 30 if I will get a job doing what I have learned.
Also I am worried about living cost at the moment I still need about £400 a month to pay parents rent, maintain my car and phone bill. I have applied for part time jobs but had no luck so far. I only really want to work late hours from 5pm to 12pm. This is so I can see my cousin at the weekend who lives in London. He is really ill so want to spend as much time with him as I can.
Any advice or help would be good as I am in really to mind's. On one hand my heart is telling me to do it or I will never know. And my wallet saying it may be a expensive price to pay.
Many thanks in advance

millwalll,
Do you fulfil the entrance requirements for the university requirements?
Is the university course currently full, hence why you have been put into clearing?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I do and I am not sure I think it is because I applied too late.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

If you fulfil the criteria for the university course, I see no point in doing the college course. If you cannot get on to the university course until next year, then get a job for a year to get some money behind you.
First thing to do would be to contact the university directly, before the 16th. Then you will be able to check if they have any vacancies, and if they do, you can get yourself known before those that have not met grades for other courses apply on the 16th.
You will not be able to apply before then, but if you have made enough contact, and spoken to the right people, your application through UCAS will just be a formality.Gone ... or have I?0 -
