  • seein as you're so stuck on the tv anology.

Sky don't charge me an admin fee for changing my package.

Why should a mortgage lender charge for a change? They should have more loyalty to their existing customers.

I posted what I thought was a reasonable query on a reasonable forum.

All I seem to have received is abuse. Is this one of those forums where newbies aren't welcome? Do you have be in dunstonh clique to be taken seriously?

I don't see any difference between the MEAF and a rate change administration fee. All they are doing is changing a few numbers on an account. Why would that double in 2 years? I bet they haven't doubled the wages of the person keying in the figures!

And I did do a search for rate change admin fees before posting. I couldn't find any posts. I'b be happy if someone could point me in the right direction.

If you are willing to post a genuine response please do, otherwise go and annoy someone else.

    Seedwarf,

Stick with it. There are actually some nice people who will advice and support you. Some posters take the moral high ground because they understand money and financial services better than others.

I work in the IT industry and I get ‘stupid’ questions that have already been asked before on a daily basis. Sometimes the same user asks the same question three times and still doesn’t understand. I could patronise the user but as I have respect for my clients and I don’t.

    Good luck

How about the first post on the first thread on this Board?!!!
Probably wouldn't be a bad idea getting a Mortgages FAQs thread done but I would suspect that we would still be getting duplicate threads

There are the sticky's, and Martin covers this subject in the first one.

Just seems some people expect to be spoon fed.

You dont get charged for staying on the variable rate but you are after a special deal which as Dunnston says the lender has to buy in. Why should the lender give you a special deal at all prior to 1988 all you got was SVR

    Seedwarf,

    Remember:

Different people have different needs and what is right for one person may be different for another.

So if you are unsure feel free to ask.
  • I don't know why I bothered posting now. I thought one of Martin's aims was to make the world of finance more accessable to the general public.

Most of the posters seem to want to keep it to those in the know when it comes to finance. I suppose it makes you feel superior because you understand this sort of stuff.

I just wanted a answer to a question.

    Don't worry I won't bother you again.

It is such a shame that a few bad apples are giving this forum a bad name.

are they? People are told what they need to know, not what they want to hear - big difference.

What do you suggest dunstonh should have answered instead?

It is not what he said more like how he said it. Especially his reply to BigZed, which I found quite pompous and rude. However, he/she is not the only one. Look at absolutebounder today. He/she accused the OP of being a tight @rse. Not exactly welcoming.

This is the second time today that a new user has been attacked by established posters for asking a question.

No one objects to newcomers (or anyone!) asking new questions, and then not disputing the answers given!

I imagine that for the likes of dunstonh et al, who really keep this board going, it gets extremely tedious to keep posting the same answers.

Perhaps every board needs a big note at the top saying 'Please search before posting'. It isn't just the Mortgages Board that this applies to, on the Travel Board someone must ask about Ryanair's luggage policy every other day!
