Sharesave scheme with old employer, paid money in but never seen anything back

I have no idea if this is even worth pursuing, but i'm sure someone will tell me!

Back in 2007 i worked for Halfords, who started a sharesave scheme, you pay money in, at the end of 3 years get to buy shares with your savings...

Having a little tidy up today, noticed on my payslips that i paid in £60 each month for 3 months, then left to work elsewhere.

As far as im aware, ive never got it back. Dont even know if i would be entitled to it back? Even flicked through my bank statements from then and cant see anything.

Any thoughts? £180, well its £180!

    Contact your old employer.

The money will probably still be somewhere.

You'll be lucky if they've still got the records after 8 years.

Sharesave accounts are normally run by a bank or building society on behalf of the company concerned. If you can remember which bank or building society it was you could contact them and ask them to do a search.

Perhaps the employer will at least be able to say which organisation ran its scheme at the time.

My recollection of one of these type of schemes is that if one paid in for the full term one had a choice to buy shares or take the money. However, if one left a company before the full term the account had to be closed and the money was returned. Could the funds have been transferred to a savings account rather than your bank current account?

Yorkshire Building Society is one provider of these schemes.

It was YBS that provided the scheme, i found a leaflet about it in with my payslips.

Possible it was paid into elsewhere, but thinking about it at the time i only had one current account.
