Hi,
Has anyone ever paid for a return flight and only used them one way and not turned up for the return? I only want a one way flight and it's half the price for a return!
Thanks

Yes - there is a small possibility that the airline will try to bill you the full price of a single ticket, but reports of this happening are rare and generally only where there has been repeat abuse.0

I've used a couple of tickets for which the return portion has never been used and this hasn't caused any problems for me.
It will probably be written in the airline's T&C's somewhere that if the return leg isn't used, they reserve the right to charge you the full one way price for the part of the ticket that you did use but I've never actually heard of this happening to anyone.
I'm not saying that it's never happened, simply that if it has, I've not read about it.0 -
Which route are you looking to fly?
What dates?
Could you book the return on a date in the future where it could possibly be used?
(The answer is you can do what you want to do, but don't make a habit of it, but there may be an alternative routing that's cheaper still)0 -
I know that the ferry company we use, which does 'weekend break' cheap deals will definitely charge you the higher price for a single if you don't turn up for the return leg. It's in the T's and C's of the purchase.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

Return ferry tickets are "abused" far more than return plane tickets are. Though I was under the impression that's still pretty rare for ferry operators to charge under that circumstance - most of the time it seems to be people buying two day returns and having the second cancelled as opposed to getting a bill.
There's a minuscule chance of the airline contacting you and warning you not to do it again. There's an almost non-existent chance of them charging you the difference.0 -

Yes but then again it is not as easy to do damage with a ferry,I would worry being on an aircraft knowing someone only wanted to fly one way after 911 and with the OP name it would worry me even more ;0)0 -

So who, apart from the OP and us, would know that they were only intending to fly one way?0 -

You should probably avoid air travel entirely in that case, since most flights are likely to have someone on board takng a one-way journey.0 -
