sorry company called Shop Direct Finance Company Ltd

http://www.shopdirect.com/home-page/contact-us/ lists all the Shop Direct companies. Have you bought anything from any of them recently?

If you have it's possible you may have inadvertently signed up for a credit account.

If you haven't it's possible some one has opened (or tried to open) an account with them in your name.

Actually, there's no such thing as an "unauthorised credit search". A company DOES NOT need your permission to carry out a search of the files about you at any credit reference agency.

Don't believe me? Check it out with the ICO.

If you're wondering who EUI Limited are it's the Admiral Insurance Group (i.e. Elephant, Diamond etc).

That bunch do an annual search on me despite never having had insurance with any of the group. I always assumed it was because of some comparison site I used many years ago which from this thread seems to be the case. I think they normally get deleted a few weeks later.

I'm a previous customer of theirs and I've also seen quotes from them when conducting Insurance Comparisons and they too perform annual searches on me too.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

It has been mentioned on this board that you can stop the searches by logging on to the comparison site and "switching them off", though I've had no personal experience of this.

It's a good idea to obtain quotes from the comparison sites with bogus, but realistic, data in the first instance. Then when you've homed in on one or two providers put the genuine data in.
