New CCTV system

Options
Hi all,

I have been looking at cctv systems all day and have found the following:

ebay item number: 191535056680

I previously had a dvr sony system but thought id be better with a ipcam / nvr setup.

The cameras look amazing and its within my budget just wondered if anybody knew if there were any equivalent and im not just paying for the brand.
If so can someone show me ? :) thanks alot!

  • I would be looking at what format the DVR saves recorded files at because its getting increasingly common for only .SNX file format to be used which makes you PAY for the manufacturers software on their website to enable your PC when files are transferred to it...play it once downloaded as VLC media player, Windows media player, Realplayer, Quicktime player, K-Lite codec packs don't have the .SNX codec to play the files, so making a copy for police can be challenging if you not savvy with how to burn enreadable files.

If it's the one I think it is, then the mains plug shown has a sleeved earth pin, does not comply with BS1363, and is illegal to import into or offer for sale in the UK.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

H.264 is fine for transfer to pc to be viewed .SNX files are impossible to find a codec pack for, your really are at the mercy of buying the software at extra cost at the manufacturers website, some offer it as a free download if you register the product within 30 days of buying it as long its bought from an authorized retailer, some charge a large fee for the software. It used to be free a few years ago but like with everything you buy these days, if you want the optional extra of having it connected to the PC to make a police copy or a keep sake back up it to simply put something on you-tube you buy their software to make the product compliant to do so.

My BIL's mother in law has a .SNX cctv system, she cannot view the files other than playback from the DVR, when connected to the PC, the PC will display them as blank files with .SNX, nothing opens it to be viewed and played back, sometimes if your DVD burning software cant read the file it wont burn it, and windows do have trouble writing the files to disk because its not a readable file, if you run an older system like XP or vist, it wont display the files form SDcard anyway as its not a compatable format windows recognizes In older versions. Win7 ultimate pro that I have does let you see the file and file type, it wont play, the only way to burn to disc is insert blank disc and select format as USB drive, select the files and drag and drop them into the field plane for the blank disc, select burn and hope and pray the DVDRW in your machine will burn files it doesn't recognize. luckily mine did. sadly BIL mother in laws PC wouldn't.
