Can't contact seller outside ebay

I won an auction for a laptop last night and got the payment invoice OK. I've held fire on payment (Paypal) and queried postal arrangements as both Standard Parcel Service and courier have been mentioned and I want to make sure some insurance is included. I made this enquiry through "Ask the seller a question" and have followed it up with a personal email this morning.
The email to the seller has been bounced (Delivery Status Notification - Failure) and I'm worried this might indicate a hijacked account. Could it just be his email a/c provider is experiencing difficulties? It's @blueyonder and I have had messages bounce from them before.

Try getting the sellers contact details from ebay and giving them a call, if that doesn't work report them to ebay for having incorrect contact details. Hold fire on your payment until you do hear from the seller.
However, asking about shipping after winning the auction is too late, what happens if you don't like what the seller says about posting, you've rather committed yourself to a sale.
Also, what's the sellers feedback like, have they sold high cost items before and are all their positives 'good' positives. (You'd be surprised how many people leave a positive but say things like 'item didn't actually arrive' or 'broken in post'!!)

It could be a number of things, however feel free to PM me (or post) the auction in question, and I'll happily take a look at the seller to see what's what.ka7e wrote:I'm worried this might indicate a hijacked account.

Is there any spaces? Does the mail give any more info?
Can you not pick it up? We won an auction for a gucci watch, 150 mile round trip to check it out - we didnt buy it as we thought it was a fake! £20 in petrol but saved us £650

Thanks all,
Soolin - I've got his contact details, they don't include an email address. They do match the details I've already been given. I don't dispute the postage costs, in fact I've offered to pay more to make sure insurance is included. The ad says he'll use Parcel Post and his invoice mentions "sorting out a courier".
His ebay a/c has been in pretty regular use and he has 100% feedback. He appears to have bought a desktop PC and then rapidly sold it on at a loss, but he says has had a new system provided by work (the same reason he has given for selling the laptop).
cheeky - the email addy seems OK. He contacted me from it, apparently. I notice in the headers it mentions "User Agent/X Agent - Squirrel Mail" ??? I am considering going to fetch it myself!
It may just be me getting antsy, needlessly. But I'm just trying to cover all the bases as it's the most expensive thing I've bought on ebay."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
It's @blueyonder
I'm with Blueyonder, there's e-mail problems at the mo. It's possible to use the webmail service, but if the seller hasn't realised this yet then they won't have checked online.Bulletproof0 -
I've managed to contact the buyer on the phone - he was wondering why he hadn't had any email for the last few days. (All my emails to him were "bounced") Pleasantries were exchanged, I've paid, he's using a fully insured courier service.
Fingers crossed!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
Well done KA7e.
Let us know when you get the laptop, we will all be quite jealous!

Just an update to say the laptop arrived this morning and is every bit as spiffy as I hoped! Built-in webcam gave me a fright... note to self ...brush hair and put on face before activating camera
Installed the Avast anti-virus programme and found an auto dialler trojan and a pop-up generator, both !!!!!! orientated. Quite a few files and programmes left on harddrive, nothing of any use to me!
Anyway, thankyou all for your comments."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
Glad to hear it arrived safely

thats good
just a note about email bouncing, some account providers think anythin with ebay in subject is spam, aol are very bad at this, this is often the cause of emails not being deliverd I had a huge problem with this once when a buyer did not recieve their goods but all emails bounced0
