Hi, i have been in debt since i left my job in 2004 to unofficially care for my disabled dad,my debts grew and i began to ignore due to my current status of my own disability i am on state benefits, i recently discovered i was given a CCJ in 2012 but i have no account of this and furthermore was given no warning so i could defend my self and to further add i was given this CCJ in a court that is over 6 hours drive and hundreds of miles away, in my time of being in debt i have received very few letters regards to different debts but the CCJ debt i have never been contacted about, before or even after the date of the CCJ.
Many thanks

What difference would it have made? As you knew the debt existed and weren't making any attempt to repay it.0

When did you last pay or acknowledge the debt? If more than 6 years before the date of the CCJ it could have been statute barred. You may have grounds to have it set aside if it was and you never received notice of it.Still rolling rolling rolling......

I have no idea as it does not say what the debt is for...0

Maybe so but "they" can just put a ccj on me without telling me..0

What address was the CCJ registered at? Court papers can be sent to the last one they have on record for you.
You can contact the court (Northampton CCBC?) to ask for details of the debt.
As mentioned, if it had not been acknowledged or paid for 6 years when they started court proceedings, and papers were sent to an old address, you may be able to get it set aside.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

When a CCJ is issued does the 6 years until statute barred start again.0

The Limitations Act 1980 sets a time limit for a creditor to start legal action. So by definition, once they have started that action within the 6 years, the time limit ceases to have effect, as the thing it was setting a limit on has already happened.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

If a creditor has not managed to have a judgement paid within six years from the date of judgement then the permission of the court must be obtained before enforcement proceedings can be commenced."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Why would they get a CCJ against me and then not bother coming for it..?0
