How Should I Proceed?

Hi everyone...I really need some good guidance.

When my spouse and I separated I moved into my current home which we had been letting out.

I let NRAM know because it is on a buy-to-let mortgage. They accept I let them know at the time I moved in.

Now the divorce is going through I rang NRAM to ask about a possible in-principle agreement for transfer of equity (it's still a joint-mortgage.)

Now, FOUR YEARS after I moved in they've written to say I can't live here on my current mortgage - "you will have to redeem this loan and take out a residential mortgage with a new lender."

The house is in negative equity so I can't really get another mortgage. If I move out it won't benefit NRAM or me because I won't be able to pay off the whole mortgage. Can they throw me out?

Should I drop the whole subject and keep living here on a joint-mortgage?

Should I contact the mortgage provider - are they held to strict conditions or flexible?

Should I try to get tenants in here and rent somewhere (I really don't want to do this)?

Any ideas? What might happen if I couldn't get another mortgage? Can they force me to move out somehow?

    I suppose the first question is...

    If I've been living here for four years with their knowledge, are they really likely to remove me by insisting I repay the mortgage? The house is in negative equity so will they be confident of getting all the value of the mortgage back? It ain't broke so why fix it?
