Who would know where my stopcock is?

I have brought a flat (2nd floor which is the top) and do not know where the stopcock is.
The previous owner doesn't know either.
It is not under the sink.
When I had surveys done for a new boiler, one engineer said it could be up in the communal loft which is locked up by the freeholder.
Thames water has given suggestions on where it could be but I need to know exactly where it is, not just where it might be.
How can I find out for sure?

I'd start by asking the freeholder if they know where it is. If it's in the communal loft, then I'd ask how I'm supposed to access it in an emergency or when I need to turn the water off for repairs/maintenance.0 -
Can you knock and ask one of your neighbours if they know where theirs is.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

You could also ask some of your neighbours if they know where theirs is as yours could be in the same place.over 73 but not over the hill.0

Follow the supply pipes back as far as you can. Your stopc*ck may be shared with another property. No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you can't find it, just have another one fitted under your sink. You can have more than one.
Also make sure you know where the stopcock outside the property is.0 -
Actually, you don't. There is a product out there made by aladdin, I believe, which can be installed live. Expensive, but probably a life saver in cases like the OP's
Yes, also possible to freeze the pipe before fitting of course.
I typed before thinking.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0
