Renewable Heat Incentive

Hi

I currently have a multistove burner with back boiler to heat my water and central heating, but mainly burn wood. I have been looking at the renewable heat incentive (RHI) and they just say biomass boiler but do mention stoves but dont go into great detail.

With me just burning wood would I be eligable for this or do I need to install a pure wood burning stove with a back boiler, or would neither be eligable?

It has to be a biomass boiler.

The Ofgem website gives full details of eligibility requirements for stoves, in straightforward terms it needs to have a boiler element and radiators connected to it but can only burn pellets:-

• Must be designed and installed to use with wood pellets. (Log burning stoves are not eligible).
• Must use a liquid filled heat exchanger, enclosed within the system.
• Must comply with air quality requirements.

To be eligible for the RHI the biomass boiler must burn pellets or chip or gasify the logs. Most log stoves don't gasify the logs just burn them so are not eligible, and then they must also be MCS certified. I believe the walltherm (http://www.wallnoefer.it/en/products/walltherm.html) is going through the applicaiton process so may be eligible in the near future.
