remote control

I'm trying to use my TV remote to operate my blu ray player it has a dvd bit at the bottom of the remote but nothing seems to work any help will be much appreciated.

    I would think the DVD player needs to be the same make as the TV.

    There's often a code you have to put in the remote to allow it to operate other devices, even different brands. Look in the TV documentation for setting up the remote.

    go into your TV settings and look for "cec"


    "(Consumer Electronics Control) allows for control of devices over the HDMI port.
    All modern televisions and AV-receivers support HDMI-CEC, which is a technology that allows devices to talk with each other over the HDMI cable. "
