Or perhaps it's not a great quality carpet?

..... or if you didn't shrink it when you shampooed it.

lil elvis - did you actually read where i said i didnt do that!!!

hollydays - £400 should be a good quality carpet and all the rest is a good quality, there is no wear and tear just the coming up near the ends so NO it isnt that at all

Sorry, I also missed the bit where you said you didn't shampoo the carpet (if that's what you meant).

I did however read post #8 where you told us you did shampoo the carpet.

This may not be the issue anyway, but you can't tell a carpets quality by the amount you pay.

And of course we have no idea of the size of the room, if it's 1000 square feet that's a cheap carpet, if it's 20 square feet it's an expensive one.

Just knowing the price you paid isn't an indication of what quality the carpet is.
£400 for a carpet that is 10 square metres would mean that it cost £40 a metre, but £400 for one that was 25 square metres would only be £16 a sq metre and would be an low quality one.

Have you checked to make sure that the gripper rods are still firmly fixed to the floor?
If one of these had come loose it could result in a bit of slack which would allow the carpet to move slightly when walked on, leading to it coming off other grippers.

wealdroam - i meant when i said i didnt do that that i didnt shrink the carpet, i have had it cleaned once since we got it.

its quite a small room, our best room we dont use often.

its sorted now anyhow, i paid the £35 and they came yesterday to pull it back onto the grippers, they actually put new grippers in as the original ones were broken and he said thats why it came loose, he also said it hadnt been cut and fitted right in that part, rather than it being a straight line it was wonky which is what i said - im now getting my £35 back and they are offering me a sum in recompense.

actually quite pleased with the outcome.
