Scart lead adapter advice.

Firstly I have tried to search this spacific bit of info before I came and added it here. I do try to work things out myself but sometimes it saves time to ask for help.
What I am trying to do is tape my Handycam movies to my VHS recorder. I can play them to my TV using the scart lead but I only have one scart socket so it seems I cannot tape to my VHS recorder.
This is what I was thinking before I spend a few pounds on a Scart Adapter, 1 main lead that has a box at the other end with 2 scart sockets on it.
I was thinking that plug the lead into my tv, this then leaves me with 2 extra scart sockets. If I connect my cam corder to one of them and my VHS recorder to the other, set my TV to AVI which is scart and play the camcorder I will get the footage to my tv. Now While my VHS recorder is also connected to the Scart if I press record on the VHS will that copy the contents?
Sorry to be a pain in the !!!! but I would rathe rknow before I went into town to buy an adapter

Are you saying that you have a lead which connects to your camcorder at one end, and has a SCART plug at the other?
In which case, just plug that directly into the VHS recorder. (Though if you can, I think you will be more future-proof if you record onto DVD).
If you need to, you should be able to connect the VHS recorder direct to the TV to see what you are recording.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to be definitive as different pieces of equipment behave differently with different SCART connections. It was always a process of trial & error setting these things up.0 -

Thanks for that I have a dvd recorder but when I connect the red and yellow cable I cannot play it and record using my dvd recorder. So my intention was doing it the long way, getting it onto VHS then recording the VHS to DVD.
I have tried connecting the scart lead to my VHS (I only have a scart socket on the VHS recorder) and using the other side of the scart which has 3 jack sockets as such. a red one yellow one and black one. on my Cam recorder there are holes for a red one and a white one. I do not have a white plug on the scart lead, only red yellow and so ive tried using red and black and trying to record, but no picture. Incidentially on the scart plug that goes into the tv (other end of the wire, 3 jack plugs) there is a button that says in and out, presently its switched to in.
I hope that makes some kind os sense. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
You may need to switch it to "out".0

That's madness.
What connections does the DVD recorder have, and what make and model is it?
When using the inputs on the DVD, you may have to manually select the input you're using.... you should be connecting the Handicam machine directly to an input on the DVD recorder, and an output from the DVD to the TV to monitor what you're doing.0 -

The video recorder is a JMB (Could be a JMBD2020) its ok, but only has a scart socket in the reverse along with ariel in and out. The camcorder is a Sanyo VM-D90PAll the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
Is it imperative that you watch it whilst recording?
You could simply connect the camcorder to the DVD and set it recording whilst the camcorder is in playback mode.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
... so you connect the camcorder to the SCART on the DVD, and the RF out on the DVD to your RF in on the TV, and record from the camcorder direct to the DVD.
If this means unplugging other stuff to do this, so be it. Just put the other stuff back once you're finished.0
