PPi Reassesment - Halifax

I tired to reclaim the PPI on my Halifax Visa card back in 2012 and it was turned down, however I received a phone call about 5 weeks ago to say that they were reassessing claims and they needed to ask a few questions, so I provided the information that she requested and promptly forgot all about it because I didn't think they would decide against themselves.
However, I received a letter this morning, they have decided in my favour and will be refunding £2079!! I am absolutely stunned, I thought it would be 200 at most, should go some way to clearing my debts :j

My Husband's was re opened for reassessment but he has just received a letter to refuse again. We cannot understand why they refused again as he was employed at the time (with paid leave if he was sick), living with parents and he had an endowment policy that he was paying in to (another missold policy!)
He can call to discuss further but apparently he can't get the FOS involved as 6 months has lapsed since the last final decision (in 2013)0 -

employment is not a complaint reason. It actually verifies he was eligible for cover.
living with parents is not a complaint reason. His health or ability to claim is not affected by that.
endowments do not overlap with PPI. So, again not a complaint reason.
Employer benefits can be a complaint reason. However, they typically need to be long term benefits (12 months) and not the more short term benefits (1 week to 3 months). Also, if the policy would still pay out in addition to employer benefits, then that weakens the complaint reason. If they would not pay out in addition to employer benefits, then it is stronger. He can call to discuss further but apparently he can't get the FOS involved as 6 months has lapsed since the last final decision (in 2013)
Correct. A review of a past decision does not generate new rights where the outcome is the same.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
