Sorry I typed a long reply and the gremlins got it!
If you have continence pads then you should have got 2 points.
In terms of "taking nutrition", if you are on a soft diet but able to take it yourself then they could argue that you don't need help so no points. I'd argue that if you're anxious and it's affecting your ability to eat proper food then you should score 4 under "needs prompting to take nutrition" as ideally you should be eating real food. I'd also say you could score under needing prompting to prepare food as you're not going to do it if you're so anxious that you won't be able to eat it!
I don't know enough to speculate on other points but I would urge you to appeal. I don't know what you've sent to the decision maker for your reconsideration but I would strongly advise you sit down with the decision and list everything you disagree with and why. Try to back everything up, if you can get your GP, nurse and physio to write a letter.0 -
Its hard to come down from a panic attack. I find it hard to socialise with friends or meet new people.
My last major panic attack resulted in me being taken to hospital.
Im really unhappy as i wish i didnt have it . I keep thinking i will die.
Read carefully through the list of PIP descriptors posted above and think if someone following you around all the time could reasonably argue that you can't do each one safely, repeatedly, and at a reasonable speed.
For example - it may be arguable that under 'engaging with people face to face' that you're avoiding it a sufficient fraction of the time that most of the time you need help to socialise.
Add the points you think you should get - and which descriptors - and why.0 -
I filled out a PIP form for a close friend with severe anxiety, and he had an assessment a month or so later and was subsequently awarded the standard rate of care with no rate for mobility (which is what I expected). He maybe a different case as he almost can't leave his house at all, much to my annoyance (trying to get him to the doctors is a pain in the back side).
If you didn't even get an assessment, it'll be because you didn't provide enough information or provide information in the correct way to get across the severity of your anxiety. What you need to do is have a look at the criteria for each score and see how that fits with your personal condition. Remember, it's not your condition but how it affects you. Ambiguous or poorly worded answers on the form can severely impact your chances of getting an assessment and subsequently an award of benefit.
I don't have the links available but if someone could post it/them, it would be a good idea to write some paragraphs down corresponding to each criteria that you feel applies to you. This will better prepare you for the appeal and/or the next form you may need to fill out.0 -
Ive asked for a reconsideration and will do what everyone has suggested.
Do i just write it myself? Or is there another form? TY0 -
Write it yourself, if you need help Ask on the thread. I'm happy to answer anything in PM if you don't want to overshare. I used to volunteer for CAB and fill out benefit forms for a heart charity0
