My local Tesco is annoyingly on top of this. Both me and my wife have a joint club card account, however the clubcard vouchers always come under her name so trying to use them in store without her card is has been made impossible!

Given the difficulty I have using our vouchers, I find it difficult to understand how this has become a problem!

Used to be with E.On, which gives ClubCard points. With the TESCO petrol, I was getting a decent stack of points. Having ascended to a higher level of existence, and hold a Costco Executive Membership card, I laugh at the Clubcard points.

I get 2% cashback for the Executive Membership, and then about 1% on the American Express. The current voucher price for a 5 litre bottle of Filippo Berio Mild & Light Olive Oil is £12.49 no VAT (£15.99 - £3.50 voucher). If you bought the Tesco 1 litre bottle at £5.90 (none bigger from Tesco that I see on the website), that is £29.50 for 5 litres.

The voucher places a limit of 168 bottles per member,
but at £17.01 (£29.50 - £12.49) difference per bottle, there is scope to save £2857.68 .

How much are these people saving, by doing the TESCO voucher deal?

There in lies a contradiction - if you have a Joint account the vouchers would be addressed to you both and have both names on.
You may therefore either have more than one account e,g, a Joint one, and another in just your wife's name, or there's just the one Clubcard account in her name & you use the key-fob card. I suspect the former.

Nope... We both have individual Tesco credit cards, we were getting them individually until I rang them up and asked for them to be joined. We have, oddly, 3 clubcard numbers, individuals and a joint. All the points we earn go into a single pot BUT they are delivered in the wife's name. I am confident that my points are going to the wife because I put my club card into Eon to get points from them, and I used to fill up the cars on my card, and that appeared on the break down as well....

I have no sympathy for anyone who is caught out selling said vouchers nor those who buy said vouchers. They aren't for sale, simple as.

Not so. My husband joined our CC accounts up some years ago (without telling me ) and we now get CC vouchers in his name only but access to the CC website through my email address. Basically they mucked up the joining of the accounts. At the time I had £50 in CC vouchers disappear and they admitted they couldn't put them back in the account. As I generally save my CC points up for double ups, I received a £100 gift card instead.

I have other household members with club cards and have never had problems combining vouchers from any club card accounts for any deals or double ups etc. I also use the MOC for groceries from several accounts in one shop. That said, I wouldn't sell them on. I usually save all year and have enough points to double up at Christmas to buy the kids Xmas pressies on CC points.

I don't believe their system is sophisticated enough to identify which vouchers go with which account. Although a vigilant staff member could query it quite legitimately.

    Splank:

When you rang up - did they speak to your wife as well? They should have before making any changes to her account(s).
Clubcards only have one name on - it's how the points accumulate, and whose name it is under that will denote that.
It's possible that when you requested them to be all 'joined together' that was actioned as a sole merger, rather than a joint account i.e. 'Main' & 'Associate' - as you said post only arrives in your wife's name. That's not necessarily a problem - though any queries they would have to speak to her.
It can be restructured (though probably not for a few weeks) - they would need to speak you both, then remove the cards No's you have in your name, amend the details back into your name then merger again into a 'joint account'.

    fairclaire:

As above in that Clubcard need to talk to the card holder before doing anything to the account. However, what can happen is that people apply for the Tesco Credit Card - one of the questions is along the lines of 'Do you have a Clubcard' (the operative word here is 'you'! But all to often people put someone else's CC number done - just because they use the keyfob! The surnames match, the postcode matches - everything now gets merged into the credit card account = CC vouchers in Credit card name.
When mergers are done - you only see one set of vouchers on -line, but you would be able to use both sets. However there can be a problem with that if multiple mergers - each with vouchers - are done at the same time. In that case normally points would be credited - to come out as vouchers in the next mailing.

Tesco Direct - won't allow vouchers to be used from different accounts, that's why a lost become merged or joint. Likewise, the Boost Dept., will cancel a deal. It's all part of the tightening up process after problems with Clubcard Fraud.

We have a joint tesco credit- my name as main holder , OH as second name. The credit card operates as a club card as well.

All correspondence comes addressed to me but vouchers have both names on them and either of us can use them.

Tesco have authority to discuss matters with OH and are quite happy to do so.

They asked me to confirm this on the phone the first time and offered to send out a form to register authority for them to speak to him.

Is it not true that if you're using CC vouchers you don't get the best deal with whatever you're getting?
E.g. you can get 4x value at a theme park or something, but based on the full entry price. Or you can get half price tickets easily getting vouchers off a cereal box, or get an online discount in advance.
Same with hotels too, you cant use them against the best rates so you might have to spend more to use em.
When I had them in the past I only used them for Bella, as it was the only place at the time where you weren't restricted in what you could have vs. the next table who were paying cash.

Suppose what I'm saying is that if people actually buy £50 worth of vouchers for £170, then let 'em.
