Hello all,
Late today. Just waved Mum & Dad off as they've driven up for a visit today.
Only a few bits from me today:
*Watered all the veggies & baby plants.
*Re-potted 2 patio containers - plants destroyed by Evil Weevil. Hope I can save them.
*Dad treated me to coffee & scone in town.
*Froze 2 portions of the soup I made yesterday.
*Usual eclectic range of gifts from my Mum: 1 pot of tulips, 2 trays of bedding plants, 1 Michaelmas daisy, 1 shrub, 1 pile magazines, 6 cat dinners, 1 free sample shampoo & conditioner, 1 bottle of beer, 1 pack cheese & basil biscuits, 1 box empty jam jars, 1 bin liner (?) & an envelope addressed to f, Mr f & cat (well, obviously it said our names, as we do actually have real names, you know, lol). Anyway, opened it & it was a cheque for £50 to help with the cost of the new boiler we had to have last week! Very sweet & totally unexpected. I've calmed down about the boiler expense now because it's so lush having hot water again.
*Did a few surveys.
*Made packed lunch for Mr f who has to work tomorrow.
*Made job list for myself for tomorrow as I have so much I want to do, especially in the veggie garden.
*Saved some energy by sharing bath water first thing.......then wasted my savings by leaving bloody heated towel rail switched on all day. Grrrrr.
That'll do me. Going to watch 1980 Top of the Pops now & see how many cheesy songs I can remember (because I am very very ancient).
F xx2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Love reading your posts and especially love your random gifts from mum. I wonder if you may notice savings with your new boiler anyway even with little slip-ups. Sounds like you may have had the same lovely weather we have here today despite the forecast.
Right off to relax with a cuppa and my craft punch and pile of scrap card/envelopes ready to make some cards/pictures next week.
Night all

Ally - where do you get all these tips?
Sorry, only just saw this question Bob, about the sharpen your shredder with tin foil tip.
I'm just really interested in chemistry, physics and engineering. Some stuff I work out myself to solve problems we have, other stuff I get from other nerds.

Ally - hope the job comes off. I'm enjoying watching your figure come down so much too. It's interesting how you paying £150 off your total is so noticeable off your sig whereas I do roughly that each month and mine seems to stay enormous
there is no science to that I don't think.
Thanks. Mine crept down for eight years, then, all of a sudden....kappow....it seems to move more quickly. But I have managed to pay £300 off it this month.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
I've done everything on my list except:
Shop - the main thing I wanted was out of stock, so I didn't buy anything, I'm going again tomorrow when it should have been restocked.
Pay for workshop - friend was also there and she owed me the cost of the workshop, so she paid
LSD - because of above turned into a NSD.
I also wombled £1 :j
