Friday 24th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!:money:

Morning DFW-Ninjas,
Well, life goes on, and the debt goes down!
I've been off the grid for a few days. Just been too tired after work to do anything. On the plus side I haven't spent a penny this week beyond paying bills and I have just paid an extra £150 off The Debt.
Just a quick post before the last shift before the weekend:
The List:
:starmod: Go to work.
:starmod: Washing out on the line.
:starmod: Wait for news on a £21K+benefits job for which OH has been head-hunted. Will update if and when any progress. But it's all a bit, I don't know, 'weird', and I'm wondering whether there is something not quite legit about the agency that are recruiting. Time will tell. OH waited all day yesterday for a promised phone interview that never materialised that the previous day the agency were saying had to happy yesterday as a matter of urgency.
:starmod: Take packed lunch to work.
:starmod: Soak feet in good ole 'free' cold water for relieve from aches and pains.
That's all for now. Good luck on your quests, Ninjas.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Managed quite a bit yesterday and enjoyed the sun and warmer weather too. I am also really pleased that I read the meters and charted the units used and discovered that they are still going down and I've only been doing this since Jan - (Electric has gone from 74 units per week at its highest to 43 - I don't know how this compares to others but I'm thrilled, Gas is a bit more erratic but at its highest 51 down to 20 - how sad is it that I am excited about the numbers going down :rotfl:)

Ziggy -that's not sad at all. It's interesting to you especially as it means less £££s
Ally - hope the job comes off. I'm enjoying watching your figure come down so much too. It's interesting how you paying £150 off your total is so noticeable off your sig whereas I do roughly that each month and mine seems to stay enormousthere is no science to that I don't think.
FVD - sympathy for not being able to write what you want to here. But better to be safe..." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Good morning all,
Ziggy - have you had a look at any comparison sites lately for gas and electricity? I've just swapped to Ovo and got a free smart monitor for it which allows me to see my electric and the cost as it's being used without going to the meter. It's called smart online I think. Looking forward to my monitor arriving!
Today is another NSD because tomorrow's grocery shopping day. So we'll mostly be out in the garden painting those pots we put the strawberries in yesterday (if the weather stays nice). I realise we should have painted them before planting in them but I didn't think of it then. It was DS1's idea after the event. If it doesn't stay nice then I'm not sure...we'll think of something.
For tonight's dinner though I'll be making bacon & leek risotto with pudding rice. It's just the same as risotto rice and I got 1 & a half kilos from Aldi last week for 87p. Bargain

Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread Ally. Hope your OH gets the job!
Ziggy - I don't think it is sad being excited about using less fuel. I watch mine obsessively as well - not only does it save money, but it is good for the environment too. What is not to like?
List for today:
Check banks Done, no surprises
Load up the washing machine, and peg the laundry on the line when it is done Done, one load dry, but then it started to rain a bit before I could get the next lot out. Hopefully tomorrow
HM meals from what I have in (only me today as OH is away) Done, LO leek and potato soup for lunch, and LO spinach and feta pie for supper - and one of Polly's banana flapjacks
Sort out some small bits and take to sales unit - nothing too big or heavy as no car today Took some little bits down, and was excited to discover that a large thing (blanket chest) had gone :T I must take another large thing down once I get the car back, cos it looks a bit bare
Free exercise walking into townDone
Water pots in front garden Done
Tidy area around chicken pen and composters in back garden Done
Tidy / declutter the shelves in the garage where I keep my gardening things Chucked out a bit of junk, but there are lots of OH's things on there as well. Needs to wait till he gets back, as I can't decide to chuck out his possessions (though I can decide to make him move them!) He has lots of outbuilding space, and I have just these shelves plus a space for shop stuff on one side of the garage....
Housework - tidy up spare bedroom (baby GD has got all the toys out), clean the en suite and make up the spare bed Not got to this yet
Well, that doesn't sound much, but some quite substantial jobs there - more coffee, breakfast, and then get on0 -
Morning folks!

I am going to make chicken kievs tonight - I have made them from scratch once before but they weren't quite filled/flavorsome enough so I am going to try again. OH can have some oven chips with his if he wants and I will just have salad (have joined weight watchers).
My calls to the estate agents on Tuesday were fruitful and I am going to see an apartment tonight which sounds very promising. It hasn't been marketed yet as it needs redecorating. I have been rather excited since I got the call on Wednesday morning and patience has never been my strongest virtue! :rotfl:0
