Hi guys. Basically I am in Army and can't book our summer holiday for July/August as I am due a posting. We currently live in Elgin and nearest Airports are Inverness and Aberdeen, then your looking at 3+ to Edinburgh & Glasgow. However if I book up now and they move us down South then it will be a nightmare. However I have a very strong feeling they are going to keep us up here but just can't chance it, anyway enough of my life story.
If we stay here we plan literally to walk down to Thompson's/ Thomas cook and book a last minute deal, to any place hot!
I have never done last minute deals before so can any body recommend any websites or places to look that are reliable and secure? I obviously am looking forward to being abit spontainious but am not sure how cheap we will het any thing this time of year?
We have our hearts set in Mexico.....any advice on what price's we can look forward to would be nice. TIA

Holiday Pirates always seem to have a deal or two for MexicoChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

As mentioned above, also look at jointing hotukdeals newsletter, they are always emailing me last minute deals (supplied by holiday pirates). Keep your eye on the Travel thread on hotukdeals too!
What is your budget, or you don't care as long as you go away?0 -
Package holidays from small airports tend to just sell out in peak periods, so there might just be no availability. The later in August the better for availability. What's the earliest that you'll know about your posting?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I'm guessing the smaller airports could be an issue, but is a 3+ hr drive out of the question for a bit of sun?
We're going to do a late deal (granted I'm only going to fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh), I looked last year, just to get an idea and had some fab prices, so hoping for something similar this year, I'm going to start looking within the 6 week mark and see how it goes, up until the case of a few days if need be.

We have to drive 2 hours to Glasgow airport so i know how much of a pain it is especially coming back tired and at ridiculous o clock of the morning. We tend to fly domestic to London easyjet then on to hotter climes. Works out cheaper and with more availability than our regional airports. Watch out for premier inn/travelodge sales in case you have an early morning flight from larger airports this fairly cuts the cost."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

Scottish schools go back sometime in August so if you can leave it till they're back, deals should be cheaper from Glasgow and EdinburghChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Hi, probably 4-6 weeks and thats if it happens at all. Hopefully we will stay put. Last year we went to Florida and had to go to Glasgow so we have already written off Aberdeen& inverness.
and to be fair we will go anywhere, Mexico would just be a bonus.
