Day all to myself in London

No kids, no hubby - what shall I do?

I've seen most galleries. Been on the Eye. Been on a boat trip down the Thames. I hate shopping. It's a Friday, so no matinees at the theatre.

Am there for a Saturday training course, but due to work arrangements, I am free to get to London around 12pm.

Any inspiration very welcome.

What about going on a guided walk? There are lots of options (Dicken's London, the Inns of Court etc) to suit any interest.

London has over 300 art galleries so if you have been to most of them you've spent a lot of time there, and then on top of that is all the museums.

Why not look at something like http://www.timeout.com/london and see what takes your fancy. As per the old saying, if you're tired of london you're tired of life

I like the walk on the south bank from Tower to Lambeth bridge.

Been to all the galleries/museums I want to go to.

Was looking at Time Out earlier. Everything listed is in the evening - it's the daytime I want inspiration for.

How about the emiratesairline.theo2.co.uk and then a wander over to the O2 with its dozens of restaurants and views of the river... the airline is a great experience

Have you done a Duck tour? I did one last year and enjoyed it


Personally I never get bored of going to some of the museums, particularly British Museum and V&A nor of going to the National Gallery and Tate.

There's usually something interesting on at the Wellcome Collection - http://wellcomecollection.org/.

Borough Market is always worth a look, particularly on weekdays when it's a bit quieter.

If the weather's good, what about checking out Kew Gardens or Hampton Court Palace? You can catch a boat to Kew from Westminster Pier.

Have you been to the Tower Of London? It is well worth a visit IMO? You can also get the old fashioned no 15 bus from there and it goes past a lot of attractions such as St Pauls, TheLaw courts etc and you just pay London transport fare rates on it. If you contact your local M.P. (they will be keen to do so at the moment I would imagine!) or councillors they can arrange a tour of The Houses of Parliament for free. If there is something interesting on at the Old Bailey it may be worth watching a case there as free entry (you have to pay £1 to leave mobile phones at the nearby estate agents as not allowed in court).

If its a nice day then a walk on Hampstead Heath and pop into Kenwood (free) which has been refurbished recently.
